neighborhood at around 10:30 p.m. last night. here is a live look at we're off. officers say they were responding to a disturbance. what a suspect opened fire and hit them one monitoring his situation. as he has released from the hospital a 2nd officer, though, has life threatening injuries and they are in stable but critical condition. the suspect was also shot. he was transported to a local hospital with life threatening injuries for more on the street closures in the area. we check in with gianna. we'll check back in with her a little bit later, livermore police are searching for a double homicide suspect, investigators say 30 year old johnston vazquez shot and killed a man and a woman inside of a hotel room saturday at the la quinta in on south front road. the identities of the victims have not yet been released, but police believe vasquez knew 1 of them. the

captain of a scuba boat that caught on fire and killed 34 people, including several victims from the bay area, was sentenced to 4 years in prison for neglect a ship officer the fire happened back in 2019 off the coast of santa barbara. and it was the deadliest marine disaster in recent us history. investigators found that captain jerry boylan never conducted fire drills prior to the disaster. and then failed to use any firefighting. equipment during the fire, and it was the 1st crew member to abandon ship. boylan's appeal is still ongoing. the attorney's office hopes that the sentence will bring some healing to the victims, families. here in san francisco a fire damaged a historic building in the city's ... hills neighborhood. you can take a look and just see the flames shooting out of the 3 story building. this was near the corner of jackson and leavenworth streets. the fire broke out yesterday morning. and it's still unclear what actually caused the fire. firefighters. firefighters say the building is more than 100 years old and luckily, no injuries were reported. now a

warning for anyone planning on visiting parks in the east bay, east bay regional parks district says that the snakes are emerging from their winter hibernation. and becoming more active as the weather heats up. several hikers have reported spotting them recently. now for a look across the bay this morning and happy friday happy weekend of some beautiful weather, at least for today, you see oakland and san francisco san jose, always blue skies. but that's going to change come tomorrow. >

this is an impactful storm. i mean, we're seeing heavy showers pretty much all morning long. it takes a while for the evening hours to really see drying conditions because there's still some lingering showers on the back end, but once we head into sunday, this completely dissipates and we are left with drier conditions for our sunday setup, while the sierra still dealing with some snow with that, so in total, we're expected to see close to around an inch of rain throughout most of our communities passing an inch all the way over into areas like pleasanton now up into the sierra. we go there going to be under a winter. weather advisory until sunday morning. with wind speeds anywhere around 50 mph and plenty of snow to share for all of them around. >nicole>all right. thank you. jessica. we continue monitoring developing news on campus is reaching a boiling over the war in gaza. this morning, word of a fight breaking out on the campus of uc berkeley. amanda hari has the latest >>getting very close to me, can you please okay? >>of the moment to fight broke out on uc berkeley's campus.

the woman who shot this video who wants to remain anonymous, said in a statement to cbs news bay area that she was with a group of pro israel students standing across from the sproul plaza with an israeli flag. she says someone grabbed their flag, and it led to this >>she said. the incident was terrifying and that some protesters followed their group until they reached the police station. homs, a mahmoud with uc berkeley divest coalition is part of the campsite. he was there and said the interaction was small and the person who grabbed the israeli flag was not from the protest. we mostly didn't engage. we had 1 person. who i've never seen at the camp. no, no, none of us knew who disappeared immediately after we're not sure who this person is. um, who just grabbed a flag, he says the injuries that happened in the scuffle are small compared to what's happening in gaza, ... nose and 1 of our protestors got punched

were forced to cancel prior ones due to financial struggles tonight event is also celebrating latin pride from 5 to 9. you can eat great food, enjoy live music and honor oakland's latin heritage. as national small business week comes to an end. we wanted to check back with another entrepreneur. and oakland. chef and owner of monte greer started roasted and raw 4 years ago. early in the pandemic, his plant based bull shop in downtown oakland. started as a pop up in the middle of the pandemic. he has his own location now, which is the which he has run since 2022. and the challenges continue. with recent break ins, but chef amani says the community in oakland has stepped up the nonprofit paying for some of the damage is people also increase their support by giving them more business and leaving larger tips. >

hit, with some moderate to heavy rain. you can see that isolated right here in this yellow and orange color and that continues to sweep to the south down into the santa clara valley into our lunchtime hours as it moves its way off into the sacramento valley and up into the sierra, bringing them plenty of snow right around the corner. they're actually under a winter weather advisory heading into this weekend with wind gust anywhere up to around 50 mph up in the sierra, but notice on the back end of this, we start to dry up fast heading into saturday afternoon and saturday evening we're going to see a little bit of scattered showers in the forecast, but then sunnier skies on the back end heading into sunday's forecast. just so in total, we're getting close to an inch of rain and communities like pacifica actually expected to pass an inch all the way over into pleasant and so this is a pretty pretty impressive storm. if you ask me now. looking at our daytime highs today. you already know tomorrow we're expecting upper 50s and lower 60s but look at what we have today. it's still warm out there. yes, cloudy of course. but off into the east bay we go. we're expecting upper 70s and then this afternoon near antioch, just like yesterday more upper 70s all the way down into the santa clara valley.

but looking at the next 7 days, we're going to cool down fast, just to warm up fast right around the corner. let's take a look at our map now all the way over into the next 7 days, we see that dip in temperatures tomorrow and then a gradual warm up all the way up into the upper 80s as early is next thursday for inland forecast. so big roller coaster of a change when it comes to our daytime highs, but we will keep you updated with those rainfall totals and of course these temperatures to here in the weather center. >nicole>all right. thank you. jessica. the wnba's popularity is booming and chase center is about to get its own team. how you can join the support of female basketball athletes.

have the best part of our day. well, there's some good news for the waterfront. and the bay bridge. the baylor lights have been dark. for months, but things are looking promising for their return. the nonprofit illuminates says it's raised $10 0 to bring the installation back. the lights were turned off last year due to the cost to maintain them. the bay lights are expected to return in spring of next year. time now for your money watch report. it looks like wall street closed out in the green this week, the economy added. just 175,000 jobs last month now that's according to the latest data from the bureau of labor statistics. that's much less than economists were expecting. and the slowest
